Development Signals Swift Growth of Entrepreneur and Investor Interest Throughout the Southeast

Atlanta – October 13, 2014 – Atlanta Technology Angels (ATA) announced today the launch of its first chapter outside of the city of Atlanta, the Gwinnett Angels. In conjunction, the organization named Dan King as a new ATA board member, who will be focused largely on cultivating the Gwinnett chapter. The Gwinnett Angels is supported by the Partnership Gwinnett, the community and economic development initiative of Gwinnett County, in response to the growing pool of startups and investors located outside of the Perimeter.

“We are excited to be expanding our reach to cultivate new opportunities for angel investors and entrepreneurs in Gwinnett. We expect that the increased exposure will lead to a growth in deal flow as well as larger capital raises which benefit our members and our entrepreneurs,” explains Bernice Dixon, President and Chairman of ATA. “With the addition of Dan King to our Board of Directors and the working relationships we’ve developed with Partnership Gwinnett our new chapter is launching with a strong foundation.”

King is highly active in the Gwinnett community and is a retired King & Spalding partner. He practiced actively for 30 years and during that time served as the leader of the firm’s Business Litigation Practice Group for a number of years. With his long standing presence in the region, King’s addition to the Board will drive further awareness to the Gwinnett Angels.

“Entrepreneurial activity is experiencing growth all over the metro-Atlanta area and recently we’ve seen a significant increase in Gwinnett,” states King. “The Gwinnett Angels chapter of ATA will conveniently serve a number of startups and investors who call our county home. I’m proud to be joining the board at such a pinnacle time of growth.”

Gwinnett Angels is a seamless and logical extension of ATA, offering members all of the same resources and opportunities as the current organization. Members interested in joining the angel network will gain access to top emerging companies across a broad range of industries and have the opportunity to network with a group of committed accredited angels. With the addition of this chapter, entrepreneurs also have the opportunity to increase awareness of their company’s funding needs to a broader audience across metro-Atlanta.

“Working with ATA to form Gwinnett Angels is a significant move for our county,” states Mark Farmer, Director, Entrepreneurship & Information Services, Partnership Gwinnett. “The entrepreneur ecosystem has grown dramatically here in Gwinnett. There is a significant need to support these efforts, and we know that the Gwinnett Angels, in partnership with ATA, will open the doors for new business opportunities.”
